Theory Sprout · Effective 24 October 2026
Theory Sprout is an app for practising the car theory test, made by Brightsmilesolutions Ltd. In short: you don't create an account, your progress and your test date stay on your phone, there are no ads and no tracking, and we never sell data.
Who we are
Brightsmilesolutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15838955), registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].
What stays on your phone
- Your answers, progress, review schedule, mock test results, streak, sprout and settings, including your test date, daily goal and reminder time. They are stored on your phone (and in your phone's own backups, if you have them turned on), in storage shared with Theory Sprout's widgets on the same phone. We cannot see them.
- Reminders are scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent to a server to deliver them.
- The questions, explanations and road sign images are built into the app. They aren't downloaded, and your answers never leave your phone.
Prices and purchases
Apple or Google handles your payment; we never see your card details. The app uses RevenueCat, a purchase service, to show the price and check whether you have Full access. For this, RevenueCat receives a random identifier created by the app (not your name or email), basic technical details such as the app version and your store country, and, if you buy, your purchase details (what you bought, when, and in which currency). Like any internet service, RevenueCat also sees the IP address your phone connects from. We use this to show prices, give you Full access, prevent fraud and count our sales. The legal bases are performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and running the business.
RevenueCat processes this data for us as our service provider and may store it in the United States, under safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Apple and Google process payments under their own privacy policies. On Android, Google Play's billing library also sends Google technical diagnostics, under Google's own privacy policy.
If you email us
We use your email address and what you send only to reply to you or, if you asked to hear when Theory Sprout launches, to send you that one email. We delete it when we no longer need it for that.
What we don't do
No account, no email collection in the app, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no analytics SDKs, and no sale or sharing of personal data.
How long we keep it
The record RevenueCat holds for us is kept while you use the app and, if you bought Full access, for as long as we need it to give you Full access and for accounting, tax and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see below). What's stored on your phone is deleted when you delete the app.
Delete your data
To have the record we hold about you deleted:
- In Theory Sprout, open Settings › About and copy your Support ID.
- Email it to [email protected] with the subject "Delete my data".
We delete the record linked to that Support ID, which RevenueCat holds for us, and reply within one month. If you bought Full access, we keep only what accounting, tax and legal obligations require. Your progress on your phone is deleted when you delete the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under UK and EU data protection law and California law), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or object to how we use it. Email us with the Support ID shown in Theory Sprout under Settings › About, so we can find your record. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Younger learners
Many learner drivers are under 18, so Theory Sprout is built to collect as little as possible: there's no account, no tracking and no ads for anyone, and the only personal data we receive is what RevenueCat collects for prices and purchases, described above. Theory Sprout is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has bought Full access and want the record removed, contact us.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
